Ultraviolet film reduces bird–glass collision risk

A Polish research team evaluated the effectiveness of our BirdShades invisible bird protection window film, in 2021. In 2017 and 2018 scientists from the Glass Traps Foundation and the Polish Academy of Science, meticulously documented bird-window collisions at 85 glazed bus shelters in Poland. Only verified evidence like carcasses or imprints on the glass were counted to ensure data accuracy. Based on this data, eight shelters with the highest collision risks were identified. In 2021, BirdShades bird proction windowfilm were installed at four of these high-risk shelters, while the remaining four served as controls. All eight shelters were then monitored again using the same strict criteria. The research team conducted a total of 173 site visits throughout the investigation. This method of investigation is referred to as BACI (Before/After Impact/Control) study. The data they collected over the three years were analyzed in 2022, and the results clearly prove: The BirdShades UV bird protection windowfilm significantly reduces the risk of brid-window collisions by by more than 80 %.
